Cancer Survivors Plaza for a Date Anyone? Yep, we did.

Sometimes the best dates are the least expensive, yet most meaningful.  We are living in times where the biggest flashiest things are often the most admired; I get it, it’s the age of social media and we all share things- absolutely no harm in that. But, we want to shift the thinking of couples around the world, or at least among our followers, to realize that less can be more from time to time. As cliche’ as that may sound- it’s true.  I hope this super short blog post inspires you!

On Friday, Lyman took me on the best date ever. He grabbed me by the hand and took me for a walk.  We went from place to place with no particular pathway or plan- or, at least that’s what I thought.  What I didn’t realize was that this date had a very special final destination- Cancer Survivors Plaza. It was only a few blocks from our house, but I didn’t know it existed. Instead of spending money on an extravagant meal, he took the money that we would have spent going out, and made a donation to a non-profit dedicated to the fight against cancer in my honor. In my heart and mind, it doesn’t get any better than that. My point in writing this is to say, every once in a while, save the dollars that you’d blow for the weekend, and instead, donate that money to a worthy cause that you’re passionate about.  You might even consider giving that money to a family member in need, or your church. The possibilities are endless; giving back is so important.  You will feel great as a couple, and you’d be surprised at just how much closer it will bring you.

Here’s a gallery of pics from our very free, yet very meaningful, date. Get inspired and tell us how you give back! And as always, share! You never know who’ll be brought closer by this idea.

    1. Thank you! Likewise, I’m so grateful that we connected that day. ❤️ I’ll also say that confirmation is a beautiful thing; it’s amazing how God speaks to us when we least expect it.
